Maybe because there is a promising opportunity to earn income, so many people are becoming bloggers these days. To the extent that there are full-time bloggers, and make the blogging profession a permanent job.

Well, for those of you who are becoming a full-time blogger or just a hobby, this time I will discuss the mistakes beginner bloggers often make.

Common Mistakes Beginner Bloggers Make

There are many common or frequent mistakes beginner bloggers make. The following are beginner blogger mistakes that are often done, number nine must be experienced by you too. What is it, here is the review:

1. Obsessed with Income

Most beginner bloggers started to pursue blogging activities just to pursue material or income. Yes, this is undeniable, considering that everyone also needs income to meet their daily needs.

However, unfortunately, most beginner bloggers only think about their income. Even though blogging requires a process, you can't get a month or two of income right away.

It takes a long process to make money, be it from AdSense ads, and product endorsements to content placements.

My advice for those of you who are still learning to blog or are usually called beginner bloggers, it would be nice to put aside the question of income that will be obtained from blogging. For now, focus on writing first, keep improving your writing, and keep writing. If later there are many visitors, surely the income will also follow itself.

2. Not Optimizing Meta Description

Usually, novice bloggers will forget this one thing or maybe they don't know the importance of meta descriptions for blogs.

A meta description is an important component that can make our articles easily indexed by search engines. As a beginner blogger, this is certainly very important because it can make our work more and more readable.

However, not all bloggers pay attention to this so the meta description box is often skipped or it may not be optimized.

For beginner bloggers who still haven't filled in the meta description, from now on fill in the meta description of your blog. For those of you who use the blogger or Blogspot platform, you can set the meta description by activating it first in the Settings menu > Meta tag > Enable search description > contents of Search Description.

Then for those of you users of the WordPress platform, one of the meta description settings can be done through Rank Math or Yoast SEO plugins. So, you must first install the plugin on your website.

3. Not Doing Keyword Research

Beginner blogger's mistakes usually do not do keyword research or keyword research. Even though this is very important in the optimization process so that the blog is easier to find in search engines.

You need to know, keyword research is not always to find visitors, but it is also important to do so that your writing is more structured and easy to read.

Maybe the article you make contains a diary or diary. However, it would be nice before writing you can do keyword research first to determine interesting points so that the writing you write becomes more informative.

4. Not Paying Attention to EYD

The next most common beginner blogger mistake is not paying attention to the EYD or just ignoring the EYD.

Yes indeed EYD is not required to be used in writing blog content. However, by adopting nazi or EYD maniac grammar habits from the start, you will benefit in the future when you reread works that have been published for years. It will look different later.

5. Permalink settings perfunctory

Permalink is the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) structure behind the domain name. Writing permalinks is very important because it can attract more users in terms of SEO and appearance when shared on social media.

Usually, novice bloggers are often careless in setting permalinks or sometimes they are not set at all and are left alone.

My advice, make permalinks that are short and contain keywords or the content of the article as a whole. The recommended permalink length is usually between 40-65 characters, but this rule can be adjusted as needed, as long as it's not too long.

6. Not Registering Blogs to Google Search Console

A beginner blogger mistake that usually occurs is not registering their blog with Google Search Console (GSC), which used to be called Google Webmaster.

Why should you register your blog/site with Google Search Console?

Indeed, every new blog that can be accessed must be registered with Google Search Console. Because in addition to simplifying the search engine crawl process or web crawl, Google Search Console will also make it easier for you to monitor backlinks or keywords that enter your blog.

7. Using the Default Blog Template

The next beginner blogger mistake is still using the default Blogspot template or WordPress and not setting up the appearance of the blog properly.

Even though one of the things that readers are looking for apart from writing that is easy to read, comfort when reading our blogs also needs to be considered.

If you can't afford a premium template, at least look for a free responsive template. Try not to have a black or dark background on the blog. Because Google prefers blogs that have a light simple background, such as white.

After that, don't forget to set the blog correctly. Starting from the menus on the blog, the about page, contact, sitemap and so on must also be considered. Because it will create a good image in the eyes of Google and your visitors.

8. Don't Create Blog Logos and Taglines

The blog logo and tagline are the hallmarks of your blog. If your blog still does not have a logo or tagline, it means that your blog will be branded by visitors as a blog that is not serious. Of course, you don't want your blog to be said to be not ready.

Creating a blog logo doesn't need to be complicated, just create a simple but attractive blog logo. Then for the tagline, make it short, concise, and clear. Do not be too long in making taglines.

9. Inconsistent

Beginner blogger mistakes are usually not consistent. This is also experienced by old bloggers. I still can't be consistent in updating articles.

The reason why people can't be consistent is usually a lot of factors, one of which is discussing a topic (niche) that isn't your passion. The way to make your mood good and stay consistent is to choose a blog topic (niche) according to your passion.

10. Copy-Paste

Because they want to update articles every day and are unable to fulfill them all, then beginner bloggers usually copy and paste other people's blog articles. This should be avoided, don't copy and paste people's blog articles to post on your blog.

Usually, copy-paste articles will be difficult to index by Google and if they are indexed, they will be taken down by the DMCA.

Well, if you want to write the same article, just rewrite the article according to your language style, so the results will be unique

11. Reluctant to Join the Community

This mistake is also often made by beginner bloggers, they are reluctant to join blogger communities or forums. By joining a community or forum, you can get new knowledge, and new experiences, get relationships, and also get updates on the latest SEO developments.

Don't feel inferior because you have a status as a beginner blogger, because in the world of bloggers there is usually no difference in status or caste between fellow members. So, just enjoy it.

12. Don't Want to Learn SEO

Mistakes that often occur in beginner bloggers usually don't want to learn SEO. Usually, those who do not want to learn SEO on average say that SEO is difficult and confusing. Then they end up not learning SEO at all. Even though the biggest source of traffic comes from search engines.

In the end, they chased the pageviews by spamming them on social media and even asked every known blogger to open and comment.
